Flickr accidentally made private photos public

A software bug at Flickr accidentally altered the privacy settings on some users photos, making private images public for all to see.

The bug is said to have meant that some private images uploaded between April and December last year, were visible between January 18 and February 7 2013.

Writing in a Flickr forum Flickr vice president Brett Wayn said: "We are aware of the issue. Only a small number of Flickr users were impacted, and we are in the process of directly contacting those individuals.

"This is not a widespread nor an ongoing issue -- the software bug has been identified and fixed."
