Jessops reportedly owed Canon and Nikon £20m

It was a sad day when Jessops collapsed earlier this year and made it near-on impossible to buy cameras and photography equipment on most high streets in the UK. But only now is the dire financial situation of the firm coming to light.

According to reports in Amateur Photographer Jessops owed Canon more than £16 million and Nikon £3 million. Other debts to camera manufacturers included almost £4m to Panasonic, £3.2m to Sony, £2.6m to Fujifilm and £1.2m to Samsung.

The details come from records filed at Companies House.
